Tract 5's 270 acres offer some most easily accessible and best hunting ground anywhere on the reservation's 14,000 acres. With a long frontage on Greenwood Rd, and easy Access from the Huff Farm Side of Big Mack's Trail down at the creek. Last year this track produced both bear and deer. This is one of the smallest leases available and priced just right for a small group. Scouting is free at the moment, so book a scouting trip to come inspect this tract.

This is mountain hunting at its finest, featuring mature hardwood forests, scattered stands of white pine, and dense thickets of mountain laurel and rhododendron that provide excellent cover. Unlike the permit area on the Reservation, purchasing this seasonal license/lease areas grants you and your group exclusive hunting rights from the start of deer season in the fall through spring turkey season. This tract is Quality Deer Managed, with enforced restrictions on buck and antlerless harvests to ensure a sustainable, high-quality hunting experience.

The bear population is significant, and Reservation Staff strongly encourage hunters to harvest legal bears when the opportunity arises. Tract 5 boundaries and description: Bounded on the north by Green Wood Trail, southeast Mile Junction Trail, south Big Macks Trail, and West Gum stand Trail. Approx. 270 acres.

BRSC Reservation Permit and Licensee Rules:
All hunters on the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation must strictly observe all Federal, State and Country Laws and Regulations. Where Reservation and or Outdoor Access rules are more strict than government statute or regulations, Reservation and Outdoor Access rules prevail and supersede them: EG deer harvest restrictions. Failure to comply will result in the loss of hunting privileges on the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation {BRSR) and forfeiture of ALL license fees. The Blue Ridge Mountains Council reserves the right to close hunting on any portion of the reservation at any time.
1. Hunters must carry the BRMC permit on their person at all times while hunting.
2. Hunters must possess valid hunting license(s) for the season and species they are hunting.
3. Hunters must clearly display their parking permit prominently on dashboard of parked vehicle while hunting.
4. A valid permit acknowledges the hunter's agreement to all regulations and their release of liability for the BRMC, Scouting America, and Outdoor Access Inc. Camping on the Blue Ridge Scout Reservation: Camping is allowed. Hunters who plan to camp must notify reservation staff of arrival and departure times, campsite location and the names and addresses of all overnight campers.
5. No fires are permitted.
6. No camping or hunting within 500 feet of any permanent building or structures on the reservation.
7. Buildings may only be occupied with rental agreements signed by BSA council office personnel. Cabin rentals are available by contacting the council service center at 540-265-0656.
8. Certain areas of the Scout Reservation may be Closed to Hunting when scout Groups as well as other groups are present and using the Reservation. You will be notified by Email and Text advising you of such closed or restricted areas in those cases.
Blue Ridge Scout Council Specific Policies:
9. Possession of alcohol or illegal drugs on the reservation is strictly prohibited. Being under the influence of, consumption of or use of ANY mind-altering substance is prohibited while hunting or handling of any weapon. This includes prescription drugs.
10. Portable tree stands are allowed. Screw in steps are allowed. Hunters must mark stands with hunters' own permit number and or Phone number if the stand is left unattended. Hunters must wear and use proper safety equipment while climbing and occupying any elevated perch. All hunting equipment must be removed within 30 days of the end of the season.
11. Firearms must be unloaded and cased while in or on vehicle. Firearms are to be considered unloaded when both the chamber and magazine are empty. Muzzleloaders are considered unloaded when the percussion cap has been removed from the nipple. No firearms may be loaded in "No Hunting Zones".
12. No firearms may be discharged within 20 feet of any roadway
13. UTV's (Side by Sides) are allowed. All other types of ATV's ARE NOT ALLOWED. Road Vehicles are permitted only on designated dirt/gravel trails marked on the digital listing map. NO Off-Road driving on camp property is permitted. Violators will be asked to leave the property immediately without any refund.
14. Antler restrictions apply to ALL antlered deer harvested on the reservation. Bucks eligible for harvest must have an outside antler spread of a minimum of 15 inches. A one-time exemption is allowed for youth {17 or under) who have not previously harvested a deer on the BRSR. Hunters who violate the antler restriction are subject to a $500 fine. Hunter’s can estimate a buck’s antler spread by viewing where the antlers are in relation to forward pointing ears. The ear tip to tip distance is approximately 15-16 “. Therefore, if a buck’s antlers extend beyond his forward facing ears, his antlers should have an outside spread of at least 15”.
15. Harvest reporting is required for all deer, bear and turkey harvested on the reservation. You must take your harvested animal to 1 of the following stations prior to removal from the reservation, and record it on the log provided:

16. In addition to creating a user Account on OutdoorAccess.com and accepting terms, all licensees and permitees will additionally be required to sign the Blue Ridge Council indemnity agreement before a license or permit will issued and the property accessed.
17. Listing boundaries will be external reservation boundaries, state roads, marked hiking trails or trafficable improved trails. Purchasers of Seasonal Licenses for exclusive access to one of the reservation's Seasonal License Tracts are encouraged to post listing boundaries that also are reservation boundaries---ie boundaries with external landowners. Posting will be in accordance with laws and reservation requirements. Contact Outdoor Access for details.
18. You will be provided a gate code when purchasing your license. Lock all interior gates both coming and going.
19. No soil disturbance is allowed or game food plots established without written consent of Outdoor Access and Council Staff.
20. Conduct a map study prior to your reservation. For safety, all on your reservation/lease must familiarize themselves with the listing and the surrounding area.
21. Do not block roads or trails when parking.
22. Clean up after yourself and leave only your footprints.
23. Note: There are structures within the reservation and housing lots border the reservation on some sides. Be especially mindful of your shot and what is behind it. Ensure your shots are safe ones.
24. Wireless phone service is almost non existent on the reservation. Plan ahead. Download local map versions on your phone for navigation prior to leaving a good service area. A hunt app such as OnX or Hunt Stand is strongly recommended.
25. Do NOT enter any buildings or structures on camp property without prior written approval.
26. Climbing and/or rappelling on any of the natural rock faces on camp property is prohibited.
27. Cutting down of any trees on camp property is prohibited.
28. Construction of any permanent or semi-permanent tree stands is prohibited.
29. You will be provided a gate combo upon making a reservation. Locked gates are marked on the digital listing map. The gate(s) on Green Wood road must be locked behind you after passing through them.
30. No target shooting.
31. Trails used for listing boundaries are for use by all licensees. Be respectful of adjoining licensees and their hunting experience.
32. No Dogs are allowed on the reservation.
Renewal Licenses. Provided the Council continues to license this tract, the current Licensee if in good standing, will be given a first right of refusal for the upcoming term. Renewal offers will be sent in early July. Licensees have until July 31st for the term that begins September 1st to exercise their option and fully pay for their renewal. Full license payment is required by July 31st or the license will be offered to the general public beginning August 1st.
Any violation of these rules or regulations may result in immediate and permanent removal from the property, forfeiture of all license fees, and disqualification from future sportsman programs, at the sole discretion of BRMC staff. BRMC reserves the right to update or modify hunting permit regulations at any time.
